Days 87 – 89 – She Works Hard for the (Donation) Money…

I can’t seem to get Donna’s Summer’s song out of my head these days

These past few days have been BUSY!!! Between training, preparing for the upcoming Book Fair, the Weigh-In event on Tuesday and tomorrow’s big Clothes Swap for Cambodia I have been going non-stop early morning through to the night for the past 3 days. I am absolutely exhausted but I am really looking forward to hopefully raising a lot of money for the CSC through these initiatives.

I have been overwhelmed with how generous everyone has been with donating both books and clothing – far more items than I ever expected to receive! Thank you so much for being so generous. I think I have about 1,500-2,000 books to sell and probably the same amount of clothing too! With that, I have organized books by genre and also priced each one individually and am working to turn my classroom into a working book fair (that I am also able to teach from) for the next few days. Kelso was a great help in sorting books for me this morning as well and I really couldn’t do the book fair without his help.

Today all the ladies from the squad met up at my place to sort the clothes, tag them, size them and then repack them to be ready to take them to Fandango’s tomorrow morning to get set up for the Clothes Swap. We were surprised to see how much clothing we actually have when we all put it together. My living room was piled high and it was a great way to spend some time with the other ladies on the squad – though we all left pretty tired when the last piece of clothing was tagged and packed away. Well done to the ladies for working together on this. We hope that tomorrow’s Clothes Swap is a smashing success!

Somewhere since Thursday, I have also had a radio interview with Jake Jeffrey from MyFM radio, completed a email interview for the Times Advocate newspaper, wrote an article for the London Free Press and sent it to them, and also arranged another radio interview with my friend Alan Coombs at 1290 CJBK radio in London, Ontario for this upcoming Thursday.

Tomorrow promises to be VERY BUSY indeed – starting off with an early morning trip to school to keep working on the book sale set up and then coming back home for 10am to shower and get ready for the girls coming over to pick up the items for the Clothes Swap and then off to Fandango’s to set up and hopefully raise a helluva lot of cash for the Children’s Surgical Centre. 🙂

Donna Summers – I know how you feel.  And it’s well worth it.  🙂

Can’t make the events? I can think of a great way for you to show your support 🙂 DONATE We’ve just gone over $10,000USD on Friday night! Help us to our next $1,000 raised!
