Days 73-77 – Moonlighting Teachers

Bet you thought you heard the last of me, huh? NEVER!!!! Well at least not until this whole boxing thing is done and dusted! šŸ™‚

I was really, really busy leading up to the weekend and I had fully intended to write but things just got a little too zany and by the time Friday rolled around I was off on an airplane headed to Bali for a friend’s wedding. And once my feet touched the ground in Bali – I just didn’t feel like checking my emails, or looking at Facebook or doing anything technology related. It. Was. Glorious. šŸ™‚

I even extended the hiatus all day today and now I am working to get a little caught up on some of the things that have fallen by the wayside. Thankfully I have a 2 week holiday to get myself sorted out and I do have a bit of a plan for that time.

  1. hopefully get myself caught up on sleep (already on a roll with that over the past few days – amazing)
  2. put in a whole whack of personal training sessions with Rey
  3. get things sorted for the upcoming fundraising events
  4. get caught up on work (blah!)
  5. catch up with my family, friends via Skype
  6. catch up with my hubby whom I have neglected terribly
  7. chill the heck out a little

At the moment, these two weeks seem like they will last forever…. but if today was any indication of how quickly time is going to pass, I am already worried that two weeks just isn’t enough time!

Maybe I can negotiate a 3rd week with work… teachers are notorious for not having enough holidays, right? šŸ™‚ (I may receive a few punches for that comment from my non-teaching friends!)

Now, speaking of teachers, I do have to say “Hooray for Teachers Who Box!”

Apparently, it isn’t too uncommon for teachers to take up the sport. I came across this article of another fellow Canadian female boxer, Alisah McPhee, (she’s a legit REAL boxer) who also happens to teach Grades 4/5 in British Columbia! Read her article here

Another teacher/boxer I know is Jemma Hooykaas, who will also be stepping into the ring for White Collar Boxing on April 20th too! She teaches Grade 5 at the American School here in Singapore. Teachers can be feisty and by the looks of it, a sweet, innocent looking teacher may just have boxing gloves hiding behind her desk šŸ™‚

Don't mess with a teacher... you never know what might happen!

Jemma lent me a book last week – it was really cute and it really summed up the “teacher on the outside – boxer on the inside” part of this experience. Well worth a read to your little ones if you can get it. šŸ™‚

I wonder if any of MY elementary teachers moonlighted as a boxer/wrestler when I was a kid?? šŸ™‚
