Day 42 – What keeps you motivated?

I awoke at 6:00am on a Sunday without the aid of an alarm (or like many parents, human alarms by the name of “children”). This was not really how I wanted to start my day, but since I woke up and looked at the time, there was no going back to sleep today. I have much on my “to do” list, so I decided that it was probably best to just get up and get the day going.

I honestly wanted to start the day with a workout, but wasn’t too keen on going out for a run in the pitch black on a Sunday morning solo. How does one stay motivated to do something like that? It is really, really hard. My motivation to work out by myself is dwindling. There was a time a month ago that I was keen to do it though. I was timing my runs, mapping them out with my phone and working to beat my own records, and that seemed to do the trick. But now, it’s not so easy.

So, I did what I know best. I started googling Personal Trainers and Bootcamps held in Singapore on a Sunday while laying in bed this morning. I found out (too late for this morning’s session) that Ufit holds bootcamps on Sundays! Very exciting! I am quite inspired to get started on this next week and wish that I had known this before it was too late today. There is another one at 5pm but I already have plans. 😦

Now for today, I am going to have to motivate myself to get out there for a run. I am struggling to really inspire myself at the moment, but perhaps a few things will help to get the ball rolling…

  1. I saw on Facebook that one of the other boxers posted that she completed a run already today and I have not done anything physical yet
  2. I tried on my Grade 13 prom dress yesterday when I was cleaning out my closet and it actually fit (it’s not a “prom” dress as you would normally stereotype one wearing in the late 90s, but a Nicole Miller gown)
  3. I have an upcoming fight where another woman is going to be punching me in the face in front of 1,300 spectators and the video will be posted on the internet of said fight for all to view
  4. I made chili for dinner last night and I ate more than my fair share

ok – this list could continue but I am already seeing the need for me to lace up the ol’ sneakers and hit the pavement.

For those who do this on a regular basis, I have only one question…

What’s your secret?

(seriously, tell me)

p.s. I thought I would include a dress which I am sure you have never pictured anyone in – ever. I saw this on the show “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” the other day and when I think of “the most hideous prom dress I can think of” – this came to mind. Note – I own nothing that would even resemble a dress like this, nor will I be donating one to the Clothes Swap on April 7th! 🙂

A big fat mistake!

A big fat mistake!
