Day 10 – 16 oz. bricks

My legs feel a little like jelly and my left arm/shoulder was on fire (and not in the way James Brown would have said it “fiyah!!!”)

All signs of a couple of good sessions today. I really enjoyed bringing my students to try boxing today (last week we did Muay Thai which was equally fun!). It was a great session and the kids were sweating, and sore but they didn’t complain… Not much at least 🙂 They did such a good job and really enjoyed punching the bags and comparing knuckle bruises with each other. It was a really fun session and they were buzzing by the time we got back on the bus to go to school.

I came back to the gym for more for the white collar session which was a toughie. We finally got to put on our gloves and were practicing the jabs and straights we have been working on. It felt good to be able to hit a target – our partner’s gloves. I feel like its been awhile since I’ve used my gloves and hit something. It feels totally different and again… My muscles were burning.

Since my last bout, I traded in my fight gloves for some sleeker, smaller gloves (12 oz). I haven’t put my fight gloves on since… But tonight I soon realized the difference between 4 oz. I felt like I was punching so slowly and I couldn’t hit half as hard! Ugh. I have a lot of work to do before my coach, Rey gets back from his holidays! Yikes!

Here’s a pic of me with my super sized 16 oz fight gloves.

After the white collar session, I jumped in the last 10 mins of exercises with the boxing class that was running downstairs to do some final exercises with Aynsley and Katelyn who were taking a class. Planks, exercises and more planks!

I feel great even after doing double duty today. Kels helped me out by getting me some dinner and a salad for tomorrow’s lunch. Little things like this are very much appreciated as I’m knackered now and have zero desire to make a lunch. Mwah!
