Day 3.5 – White Collar Training

Well I felt like I just left the gym, got back to work, went to 2 meetings and then got in my car and drove in traffic for over an hour (it was moving so slow I could have walked faster)… because that’s exactly what I did!

Traffic is killing me at this time slot – it’s so slow on the expressways and driving through the city isn’t much better. I need a magic carpet, or a time machine I think. So after just squeezing in before the skipping started I was able to get back into the training mindset. It took awhile and my skipping was annoyingly terrible. I needed to pick up my feet but my body wasn’t listening to my brain.

Then came the exercises which I actually don’t really mind doing – my brain kind of shuts off and I like to count out loud how many I can do(which is probably really annoying to everyone around me). I try to maintain the number I can do in 30 seconds or beat it if I am feeling particularly spritely that day. There are exercises I like more than others and ones that I HATE doing…but I won’t tell you here because that will give fuel to Alexis, Wan and Rey to start including them more often in the sessions!

We were really working on our movements and jabs tonight and nothing else. I really liked playing the game to work on moving out of the way. We had to partner up and using only our left hand we had to tap our opponent on their left shoulder and move out of the way before they can catch you. A boxing version of tag. It was quite fun and really got you moving. I was practicing a few things that Rey and I have been working on so it was good to put it to use during the game.

Then we did about 8 billion jabs in a row with weights. YAY! *please note the sarcasm* My arm is aching as I even type this because of this, but again – it is great practice.

Overall I loved the session. I love getting out of work and knowing that there is a challenge waiting for me at the gym – I may not really recognize my love for it while I am actually doing the exercises by the time I get home and tell Kelso (my husband) all about the session I am feeling pretty darn good about it.

Thursday is a regular Vanda class and I am bringing my cousin, Katelyn and my good friend, Aynsley in for their first trial session. I hope they love it as much as I do!
